Hi, this first bit does has something to do with the rest encase your wondering.... well i'm a spurs fan, and i'm not sure if you know but one of their nicknames is rimes with lids, but begins with a 'Y' they got this name as around tottenham theres a large Jewish community and rival clubs chanted it to be almost racist i suppose, but then the spurs supporters change it to be a positive thing and call themselves it and chant it. The question is though, would it be racist if i bought a personalized hoody, which says on the back. 'yiddos' and 'THFC' thanks for reading bye

Unfortunately the laws on race (and sex) discrimination and harassment are framed such you are guilty unless you proove yourself innocent.

In other words, if someone (and it only takes 1 individual) takes offence at your T shirt then it will be up to you to proove that no offence was intended.

That would involve a lot of 'custom and practice' evidence. Things like proof that Spurs nickname was in common use for a Very long time (at least a couple of generations) without causing offence or complaint would be needed. It would help if a significantly large number of influential jews also took things in good spirit and wore the shirt themeslves.

It's a sad fact that football 'supporters' have a very bad reputation (I know it's a minority who are brain-dead yobs but their affect on the group as a whole is dispropotionate) so you'll probably find that you won't get much support from a court or jury. If you try it and get prosecuted the penalties can be severe and you Will get a criminal record and may be jailed. Your family wouldn't like that even if you could cope with it.

Be careful and good luck.

In Today's society it is rascist, me personally I don't think so.

The world is getting stupid, it doesn't matter what you do or say now you're being racist towards someone. All this political correctness **** has gone too far.

It is now wrong to call a police officer a policeman or policewoman yet that is EXACTLY what they are, it's just an accurate description, yet it's now racist.

Next it will be you can't call someone your boyfriend or girlfriend, or husband or wife, it has to be personfriend or partner...

What a pathetic society we live in.

I know all about Spurs fans being yiddo's I've got some Spurs friends, I'm a Stoke fan & if Potters somehow became racist I'd still call myself a Potters fan, I'd still be a mighty potter...so I'd still go through with it. So if I was you, I'd still have it done, you know why you're doing it, you know you're not doing it because of anything racist, so screw em & be loyal, be proud to your club.

Spurs are known as yids because the chairman and some of the board members from some years ago were Jewish, not neccessarily because theres a a large jewish community in N17

Yes of course its racist...but its pretty clear that you already know that. You wouldn't walk round Brixton with a hoody that said "n*gg***"" on it unless you deliberately wanted to be a provactive a-hole, so why would you do this?

"Y**" is a perjorative word in the real world outside of football, used only as an offensive term of abuse by Gentiles for Jews. If you want to wear it on a hoody, dont be surprised if someone thumps you pretty quickly. As you know, 99% of Spurs fans are not actually Jewish, so their use of it is equally uninformed and offensive to Jews,.

Hardly surprising that all these non-Jewish people say its "not racist". If its not you who is being abused, then of course its not racist to you!

Not really because you didn't start it but the whole idea is weird anyway. There are a lot of racist people though as I have found out just by walking around in an Arsenal jersey.

Shalom. Your question possesses a niggardly sense of understanding. The Spurs fans, like gay people will turn it around and make abusers foolish
