Whether 2,000 troops come home this year or not, it is too little too late and shouldn't we intensify our call for all troops to be withdrawn NOW and for Britain to break the link with George Bush's foreign policy?

No I don't think they are "addicted to war". I think they go to war when they think it's right - just a shame no-one else agrees with them!

Funny how you can ask a question like that and not notice that there are about 23 Muslim countries who are at war with other countries only for the lame reason of religion. 23 out of 27 wars in the world today have been started by Muslims and you're worried about the British sending in troops to help out their little brother America. Damn, that's pathetic.

If you look at British history since 1914 you will surely see that we have intervened in many many foreign conflicts in the belief that we were on the side of right.

In both WWI and WWII we had no threat to ourselves (before we got involved) - we just did what we thought was the proper course of action.

There are many similar instances in recent years, including our involvement (incredibly, on the side of Muslims) in the former Yugoslavia.

Without Britain Europe would have fallen under the boot of the Germans pre-1945 and the Russians after that.

We are a major world force, politically, militarily and economically and we should be proud of that given our miniscule size. Iraq is not a popular war but history might just record that our intervention there had some benefits. (I can't see them myself.)

Whatever you think of our politicians, they do not act in isolation and such momentous decisions as going to war are not taken lightly.

So, finally, addicted to war - NO. But prepared to stand up to evil - YES.

No.
Sometimes, whether we like it or not, action has to be taken to prevent total disruption of our freedom and our way of life. We've been fighting battles since forever. We've fought and won battles long before America was discovered and we can still go out there and do the job - the Falklands springs to mind (no military help to speak of from the Americans then, I seem to recall). Sometimes, though, the battle is just too big and the threat just too great, hence our cooperation with America.

No, definitely not the Government. Blair, yes. Lefties and Liberals would avoid war like the plague, even if it was in the countries long term best interest. They think everybody is reasonable and all differences can be settled by debate.

Well, I hope Britian breaks military ties with us in the US, so Bush and future Presidents will be careful before starting another war, but I hope we still are friends, though, as it will benefit us both.

Tony Blair seems to be while many in his party and Cabinet are opposed. Definitely time to withdraw our troops and to stop being Bush's poodle.

No. I don't agree. It is the British that are pulling out of Iraq, not the Americans.
