The movie "American Graffiti" got me hooked so I went out and bought the soundtrack. I prefer it over any of the songs out there today.

I love the oldies! and Doo wop music. My favorite is Del Shannon, and fav. song is Runaway by him. I also like Buddy Holly songs, the Four Seasons, Dion, and many others. Also love the Temptations, Platters, Brooklyn Bridge,Skyliners, so many, oldies had the best music ever.

the best part about retro and oldies are that time has filtered out all the junk that was popular then, but really lacked any sort of merit.

Look at half of the one-hit wonders, and not-so-great singles of the mid-90's. Even with a decade of reflection, we've dropped most of the filler and are left with only the best, and timeless pieces.

Same goes for classic rock and oldies. Time has a way of bringing out the best in things.

Rubberband Man by the Spinners is still to this day, the most happy song I have every heard, and Looking Glasses - Brandy is just sexy. (Yeah, I know they are later than the period you are talking about)... I love Jay and the American's and Booker T.

I only can handle the beatles and I think they are interesting enough to study them, especially their last works where they got really tricky composing and innovating
