I wanted to use 3 giant alliums per bouquet, but worry that the girls will not be happy about carrying things that smell like onions. I really don't want to use silk alliums. What other flowers have that round puffball shape that I can use instead?

I don't know about that exact shape, but when are you getting married? Try looking for lilacs or hydrangea, they have sort of a poufy, rounded shape.

I know it would put a damper on the occasion for me. Why not go into a big flower shop and ask to see catalogues of the different types of flowers?
