YES!!!! Especially in summer--if I were in the financial league to have two homes, one would be there!

In summer, you get very long days (sometimes, it just gets a little dusky, not really dark), weather in the 80's, and so much beautiful stuff you can't see in the lower 48. The salmon fishing is so great no one at home will believe your stories--you might have to lie and tell them you caught fewer than you did. I haven't hunted there, but I hear it is a hunter's paradise as well.

As for adventure--you have to see Denali park. To avoid the traffic jams yosemite gets, they don't let you take your car into the park, and run a bus line instead. The bus will take you on a drive to a lake at the base of Denali (McKinley) and back. No need to stay on the bus though--take the bus into the middle of nowhere, have the driver let you out, and you can wander all you want. After you've snapped some pictures of caribou and moose, just find your way back to the road and grab the next bus--they run every half hour or hour depending on how busy the park is.

Go, look at some wildlife, climb some foothills, hear the legends of Denali (ask a ranger about the Sourdoughs--that's a wild, but short story), pose for pictures on a glacier in your shorts, and start planning your next AK trip on the flight home.

Absolutely, Alaska is great. Especially in summer. After I went, for a couple months about all I could say to anyone was, "Dude! I saw a grizzly bear!" and "I had a tee time at 2:30 am." It was so cool. Saw some auroras, too, and stood on the Arctic Circle. F***ing awesome.
