Than the rest of college kids who don't have to "buy" their way into popularity? I think the ones I knew in college were all good examples of frat boys who were in need of a social life and had no other way to attain getting girls.

It's hard to stereotype all "frat boys" as "more insecure." Alot of non-greek (aka non-frat/non-sorority) people have the idea that we are just buying our friendships, social life (etc.). In some ways this is correct, but its not entirely correct. Personally, I joined because I didn't know really anyone at my university, I always wanted the experience, and the networking after, all appealed to me. Not to mention, some guys need this experience to grow up (I had already been in the military so I was good). Ultimately, fraternities are meant to make men out of boys, not bad men, but upstanding and good men. I know it doesn't always turn out that way, but that's the goal! Furthermore and to answer your question, I can honestly say I wasn't insecure at all, instead some people think I'm overly confident (sometimes cocky). I had a girlfriend and social life before the fraternity, but after, my social life blew up and so did my girlfriend (in so many words). I don't regret anything, I think it was great, and the experience will be with me forever. I cant think of college without it, as a matter of fact, college is just college without fraternity.

P.S. I graduated with a 3.83 GPA and am currently getting my Masters, so not all "frat boys" are idiots!

most of them, hell yes. fraternities have somewhat of a pyrimid structure. those in the longest, and with half a brain are at the top. the are predators looking for new recruits. these types of students have very dedpendent and scarred egos. they don't have the innerdirectedness that many students have. they can start up a conversation with anyone. they can study alone. they make their friends on their own or like to be free spirits. young and older frat boys, most of them, can't do this. when you get sucked into a frat you are humiliated by initiation, and then accepted as a brother gang raping female teens they get drunk.

Frat Boys don't necessarily have to "Buy" popularity, but they do have a need to be around those of similar ilk. I stayed away from the frats in college and really enjoyed myself. I knew a couple of guys who hated the frats for they way they permeated all parts of campus life.

i imagine that any individual who feels the favor to pay for club right into a "crew" has themes with lack of self belief. I absolutely have considered many like that. notwithstanding, i have also met some frat adult men that radiate self belief. i wager actually everyone has their motives for turning out to be a member of, yet I in simple terms steer sparkling of them. As a school student, i do not comprehend the position they have all this time to throw events. I hardly ever have time to sleep! I absolutely ought to take a spoil from my homework each once in a lengthy time period in the course of the day, so I come the following for a jiffy. I do in simple terms not comprehend how they could have all that loose time and get their artwork performed besides.

It's just a club. A way to be part of something. Same as belonging to any other club, church, or group. There are reasons people do it and "belonging" is one of them.
