More then half of all the first ladies in the United States had short hair (shorter then shoulder length), why is this?

Most first ladies have been older and it is commonly accepted that women of a certain age should not have long hair.

some people, especially older people, see hair as sexual (this is why religous females cover their heads). most frist ladies were older women and most publicists don't want to have people insinuating about a sexualized first lady

it looks powerful, and not confused like teenagers. To give out a confident personality look, it is "commonly accepted" to keep it all well groomed.... if u notice, young actresses seldom keep their hair short... they keep it long.... its according to age...
