It is possible they could move (with no regulated, controlled motion) for a second or 2 as the sodium, calcium, potassium channels open and close.

If the nerves are severed, obviously the fingers will no longer move. They may twitch for a few minutes right after being chopped off but will stop in a minute or two.

The fingers will move, but not for the reason you're thinking. The muscles will continue to spasm for a little while as the muscle tissue dies from lack of oxygen. It's not going to be a fluid movement, as it would be if the limb was still connected to the nervous system, but they will twitch slightly and erratically (the way your leg muscles do after you've worked out).

ummm yea they will, but to some people they think they are moving due to its still alive...WRONG, its due to the severed nerves twitching in the hand. Chickens do not run with their head cut off, its the body going Thur nerve damage. You see this allot with spinal cord patients.

not on thier own - although without the tensions being physically pulled because of attachment to other muscles in the body it may curl up or flatten as it decomposes
