If you're worried about the cost of living in the UK, have a look into the cost of health care for a family in the US. I know a couple with twins and a massive portion of his salary is swallowed by paying for their health insurance every month, they can barely keep their heads above water since their babies were born.

And the cost of private schools. Cuz believe me, you won't want your kids in a regular American school- the only thing they'll learn is how to answer multiple choice/fill in the blank tests and not use their brains at all. I moved to the UK at 14 and was so behind educationally it was a joke. I used to get nothing but A's in my Florida school, but in England I was failing in everything for months.

Personally I think Canada is far superior place for a family looking for quality of life and low cost of living, and much easier to get in to as a Brit! They have national health and a much better education system.

So many Brits think life is much easier and cheaper stateside, and it can be great, for sure, but it is not as perfect as they make it look.

Virginia is great. Especially Northern VA. It is sort of pricy in SOME areas of Northern VA such as Fairfax county but they have the best school system here. The Libraries etc. and stuff is all top quailty. It is coming to a time of buying though (in the next months or so) because they just had a huge long jump in prices and are now going down. You won't loose money coming here.

Jobs are great too because you can esaily commute to Washington DC. It is great being so close to the Nations capital also because it is great to visit. There is so much to do for families living in Northern Va. close by there is DC (free muesems or anything fun), skiing, beaches, countryside, suburbs, historic places, caves, rivers, hiking, Williamsburg (great for familys), theme parks, anything. It's amazing.

Our young family also lives here and we hve NEVER regreted it. It is so great. You won't regret Northern Virginia

If you went to California, you'd be happy. It's always sunny in southern California. The real estate is kinda pricey. Seattle is nice, too, but it rains almost nine months out of the year there. That's where Microsoft is located. Minneapolis, Minnesota and Wisconsin is nice if you can stand the cold winters. The South isn't so bad either - Florida and Texas. Atlanta, Georgia; and Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina. Take your pick. There are a lot of black people in the South so people try to live farther out in the suburbs so they don't have to deal with rapper BS and violence in the schools. You wouldn't want to buy a house in an older established neighborhood. They'd be selling to move farther out into the suburbs.

Our area, while not being in the fast lane of culture has some of the best schools which are still family orientated. We have many industries in the area as well as being close to 2 major cities. Also, there are many smaller communities which are located around a larger city. These small communities are very close and have a lot of activities together. Northern Wisconsin or Central Minnesota - larger cities, Rochester, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Madison, Eau Claire. If you'd like to know more, please let me know.
