I am wondering what is the best wasy to split a hive?

should this be done the nuc and is this just getting queen cells to put in other empty hives with bees. im confused help me????????????

Pull half of the trays and put them into the other hive nearby, and see if the colony splits. You need to wait until after the queen has laid her eggs.

Each hive will produce a new queen.

The exisiting queen doesn't matter after she has laid her eggs.
