I'm a Republican Agnostic. Atheists denounce God, it's a rude stance to take I think. Agnostics do not know what to believe, and do not submit to a concrete idea of what the higher power(s) is or are, or if there even is / are one(s).

I would think that those not confined to a religion would be more open minded, since they don't blindly accept the dogma passed on to them....

No. Atheism is about as ignorant as the zealots. No one knows what comes next, nor do they know how it all began. Agnostic is the only logical stance to religion. Agnostic Libertarian (it's like the good old GOP, without the religious right).

i'd say there are more Dems that are atheist. atheists tend to be close-minded and self-absorbed (not denying that some may be intelligent). this is a close definition of most Libs.

I'll bet there aren't many. Most athiests tend to be intelligent, well-educated people.
