I am definitely proud to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan. Sure there hasnt been a whole lot to cheer recently, but the history is something that can never be taken away. I wasn't even alive during the Pirates last world championship in 79, but thanks to the magic of DVD, I picked up the set that came out last year and have watched numerous times, as they fell back 3 games to 1 and bounced back to beat the Orioles, with Sister Sledge in the background the entire way.
As I was just starting to get into sports, the Pirates were at a point that they haven't returned to since. Back to Back to Back NL East titles, but never advancing to the World Series. At no point will I ever forgive Francisco Cabrera, even though Sid Bream was still OUT. (Although Baroid Bonds could have made a better throw). To have your early baseball memories be centered around that team is something that sticks with you, despite going on 15 years of sub-.500 baseball.
I'm not proud of some of the decisions made by the organization over the past 15 years, as they never did have a lot of money to spend, and what they did spend, they did so unwisely (see: Signing Kendall to a big contract that was tough to move, Derek Bell, Raul Mondesi, getting NOTHING in return for Aramis Ramirez, and the well documented Jeromy Burnitz and Joe Randa signings of last year). That said, in my mind I've never seen an instance where the players on the field haven't done the best with the hand they're dealt (Well, I guess Bell and Mondesi are exceptions, but they pretty much shut down mid season. When they were actually ON the field they seemed to have played hard). I think it's very tough to compete with some of the upper eschelon teams in MLB these days because theres no salary cap. The luxury tax hasnt done enough to dissuade teams from signing big name free agents to astronomical deals (Yankees, Cubs), and as long as the current structure remains, little will change as far as that goes.
All in all, I can't wait for this season, as I think the Pirates actually have a strong core group, some youth that will hopefully develop well, and a team that actually believes they can turn the corner a little bit.
BEAT EM BUCS!!

As a Detroit Tigers fan, I enjoy being a fan of the team. The Detroit Tigers are my favorite team of all time because baseball is my favorite sport to watch and attend. Despite the fact that the Tigers had a slump for 12 years, I still was a fan of the team and I collect all Detroit Tigers baseball cards no matter how the player is or what years the player played.
During the 2006 Season, if you had told me that before the season began that "The Tigers will play in the World Series" I would have told you "Yeah Right! The Tigers are not going to be in the World Series this decade." When the Tigers made the postseason and the 2006 World Series, I was very excited that the team was in the World Series. I was more exicted when the 2006 World Series was a rematch of the 1968 World Series and although the Tigers did not win, I was excitied that they played in their first World Series since 1984.
As for 2007, I do see the Tigers repeating their American League Championship again. I hope that if they are in the World Series that they play the Chicago Cubs because both the Tigers and Cubs have played each other if four World Seires in the past; 1907, 1908, 1935, and 1945 and if the Tigers and Cubs were to faceoff in the World Series, I do see there being a high percentage of households watching the World Series because you have one team that is the oldest team in the American League against the oldest team in Major League Baseball.

Hell yeah I am a proud New York Mets fan. So what they didn't get to the World Series last year. It will just motivate them more this year. And on the bright side they still had a better year then the New York Yankees. Just in case you are wondering who I am it's me libralover06. I doubt that you remember me at all.

I am definately proud of the Tigers, as well as the Pistons, Wings, and yes...even the Lions. Well, I may not be "proud" of them right now, but they are still my team.
The main thing I wondered when the Tigers started doing good was "How many of these people are actually fans and how many are only rooting for them because they are finally good?" I guess it doesn't really matter because everyone was having fun last year. Now, we just need the Lions to do good...and by good, I mean make the playoffs.

I am a big fan of the Red Sox, its in my blood and will be till they bury me........I am not a bandwagon fan, I cheered them on in 2002, 2003 [what a bad, bad Playoff season that was] and in 2004 when they won the WORLD SERIES after 86 years, I cryed and screamed and thanked God and went nuts and became a totally different Red Sox Fan.............We Still Believe and always will.No matter what is stacked against us.........Lat year was not the best year either, we had alot of injuries, Tek, Matt, Coco,Manny,David, and the list goes on........We may have not made the Playoffs, but the Red Sox have some of the most loyal fans in baseball [besides the Cubbies and Tigers of course]I love this team w/ a passion that I cannot describe.I cry, worry, stress, pray, yell, scream, cuss and all the other things that Loyal fans do.So yes I am soooooo proud of my team, and I hate bandwagon fans, especially the ones on here and you know who you are................

Who would not be proud to be a fan of their team? I am a proud White Sox fan. I work a second job in the offseason so I can afford season tickets for me and my family as we love to spend the summer at the park and it keeps us close together. That is what baseball can do. These things make me proud.
1) Who cares that it took the Sox 88 years to win a World Series! It took the Red Sox one less year. Are they bad? If anything, it makes us the best fans as we have stuck behind the team during many bad years. You seem to like the Cubs - are you saying there is something wrong with the Cubs since they have not won in almost 100 years?
2) I agree that sometimes losing makes you stronger. But in todays age of free agency, your window of opportunity is small. And one injury can do in a team. So I am proud the Sox finished the deal in 05, losing only one playoff game, and sweeping Houston.
I think it is great being a fan of the White Sox. We are the second team in Chicago. This is where you seem to not understand - we know we are the second team and don't really care. I have many friends who are also Sox fans. We DON'T care about the Cubs. Being a two team city, Sox fans and Cubs fans live in close quarters. My wife is a Cubs fan. I would love to see them win it all eventually so she can experience the joy I did in 05. We don't care about Wrigley, or the attendance. We played to 89.9 % capacity last year. We fill the stadium with good teams. So by thinking that Sox fans cry about the Cubs, then you are talking to the wrong guys. We don't care. We care about two things
1) Winning another World Series
2) Having the best tailgating in baseball with the best beef, dogs and beer.

Right on man, I'm not a Detroit fan I'm an Astros, and Rangers fan but, It's important to stick to your team during the good times and the bad ones. I can't stand the band wagon jumpers. So I'm sure this year after the Mavs win the championship, we'll have more fans almost overnight. GO MAVS.

Forever and always I will root for my teams. Regardless of others opinion, I will always root for who I feel the most passion for not at just the moment, for all time. It separates fan from fair-weathered.
I know, G.P. how strongly you love your Tiger team and I fully respect and honor you for that feeling. Who has the right to come along and tell you otherwise.
Amen brother, Amen!
