This is a good question. I think in college, Carroll is the better coach just because he has a better handle of the game and in terms of recruiting, he has an advantage that few in the game have.

But if these two were to coach in the pro game, I think Weis would be the better coach. Weis already has a system in place with ND (which I'm sure he learned from Belichick) so I think he could use that system to his advantage in a pro situation.

Pete Carroll on many fronts:
1. USC is a winner!! People want to play for a winner. When Carroll arrived as SC, fans and alumni didn't know what to expect from him. (Remember, he was all but ran out of the NFL.) Then he started winning, now he is a genius and a guru. Remember when Weiss was OC with the Patriots. He was an offensive genius, because they were winning. Now he has to prove himself over again, and I think he will......IN TIME.

2. USC's talent pool is DEEP!! Their recruiting is second to none. Pete has been doing this for a while, and with recent legacies such as Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, Mike Williams, assisting, kids are seeing results and know that playing for SC means possible Nat'l Championship, and for Blue Chipper QB's, RB's and WR's, possible Heisman exposure. Weiss is still cutting his teeth when it comes to ND recruitment. Also, ND transfer criteria has to be re-evaluated. Most major colleges will let you transfer to their school, as long as you have eligibility left. ND however doesn't. This cripples them. Students think, "I dont have much time, ND doesnt take junior transfers, so if I gotta go to a JUCO for a couple of years, that takes me out of the ND race. I feel, that once those changes are made...ND will compete.

3. The Irish's schedule. When it comes to strength of schedule, ND is low, every year. The only game that everyone seems to rise up to is the ND/SC game. Once Weiss starts scheduling against OSU, Texas, Michigan, Miami, Auburn. Start getting into these power conferences and dominate like they need to...Also, the Pac-10 is not a soft conference like it was once considered. Along with SC, you have Cal, UCLA, UW, and WSU getting in the top 25, so the Trojans are playing top teams in their conference.

This and other small changes, will hoist Weiss up with the Knutes, Aras, and Lous of Notre Dame history.

SYKE!!!! Notre Dame Sucks!!!!

USC For Life....GO TROJANS!!!...KILL THE IRISH.....

Carroll without a doubt. Only damers could think otherwise. It took Carroll 2 years to turn around the worst USC team in history. USC before Carroll arrived finished last in the conference for the first time ever. Carroll turned them into a top 4 team in two years. Weis has had two years and produced zero big wins. Weis was blown out in two bowl games.

Weis is in desperate need of defensive players. So what does he do? He stockpiles offensive players.

Don't misunderstand me in the end Weis will be considered a very good coach. Carroll will be considered one of the greatest CFB coaches ever.

Even at a pro level Carroll was a head coach not a coordinator. He still took his team to the playoffs 2 times.

Well, you just let your bias get the best of you...Lame question if you are anti-Notre Dame to begin with...

Pete Carroll was an NFL head coach (for the Patriots, as a matter of fact), and was not that good...What he has at USC is good recruiters working for him, and the better recruits playing for him...

Charlie Weis will go down as the greatest offensive coordinator in NFL history with the Patriots coming out of nowhere with Tom Brady and being a dynasty...He knows how to win with less talent...Maybe, as a Michigan fan, you should ask this question again next year after ND and Jimmy Clausen light up the Wolverines like a Christmas tree and hang 45 points on them...Don't worry...They're going to light up the Trojans like a Christmas tree too...maybe a little less than 45...I'll say with 35 points...

Pete is a better recruiter, mainly because he has a booster club that pays better than other colleges. They all cheat, it's just that USC is better.
