I had a hassle with AFLAC's maternity claim. I did try, but never got paid. I did however, have a wonderful experience when my husband got hurt and broke his leg. When he broke his leg, then we got over $6,000 but we never did get anything for maternity... also, I was told when I signed up it was only like a one time payout of $250 (unless you need a c-section.. but I don't know how that all works...) So would I recommend AFLAC, yes, solely for maternity pay, NO!!!!

RE:
Has anyone had experience with Aflac's Personal Sickness Indemnity Plan and Maternity claim?
I am considering purchasing Aflac's Sickness plan specifically because our health insurance at work doesn't cover maternity. The policy has to be in force for 10 months before they will pay anything, so I am planning WAY ahead of course! But, I'm wondering if it is worth my trouble. Has...

Yes, I purchased the plan because my short term disability only covered 2/3 of my pay. They paid out $1000 just for going into the hospital. They also paid either $100 or $200 for each day I was in the hospital. I had a cesarean, so I got an additional amount for that. I don't remember all the details, but I know it was worth it. I also have the hospital indemnity policy, so I received payment on that plan as well. I actually got much more than I expected, so they covered quite a bit. I got the forms from our Aflac rep before I was scheduled to deliver and gave them to my OB's office to fill out their required parts. I faxed them to Aflac and got my check within a week. I would recommend getting it. If you want more details on what the plan covers, talk to your Aflac rep or call their 800 number. I told my rep that I was ttc when I purchased it and that was the sole reason why I got it. He didn't care, as long as you have the policy for 10 months, so if you are planning on ttc, you might want to wait a month or 2 to make sure you don't get pregnant too soon.
I should mention, the normal pay is $250 for going into the hospital. I purchased the additional rider that increased it from $250 to $1000. It was well worth it though. Also, it's only a one time payout per year, so if you get the family plan and someone else in your family ends up in the hospital in the same year before you deliver, they will get the $250 or $1000 one time payout. You will just get paid for days you're in the hospital, and whatever other services you receive that are covered in the plan.

i still have it its awesome and when i had my baby three years ago i submitted it and it really helped they dint pay for stuff you get a personal check for you to pay for what you need to pay for. my labor and delivery cost me about $5,000 before insurance and i submitted a claim and got $4,000 from Aflac so my labor and delivery only cost about $750 and i got to pocket the rest. my dad also has it and he got knee surgery and they gave him $1,500 to pay for a $1,100 procedure. i Love it i highly recommend it.
