I have a new HP laptop. It has a duo processor in it. Every time I turn the computer on it makes 20-30 beeping noises. It only happens when the computer is initially starting. When I get to the desktop it is done and the computer seems to be working fine. Does anyone have any idea what this could be and is it a serious problem?

It could be bad RAM. If you just bought it, you should go back to the store and make 'em fix it.

Take it to the store and ask , or try the HP website.

Beeping at startup used to be a sign it had failed what are called POST tests.

Since your seems to run fine after it starts it may just be an attention getter as stuff starts.

I would get it looked at though while its still under warrenty .

undesirable battery (incorrect sort) or fried motherboard. computers carry out what's called submit which stands for skill On Self attempt and if there's a intense failure including a undesirable motherboard, lacking not basic tension, lacking keyboard and so on the pc will subject "beep codes". take a look into the link interior the source section to become attentive to what your particular failure is.

See if your beep sequence matches any of the ones here: http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml or if this HP site is of any assistance: http://docs.hp.com/en/AB216-90001/ch04s03.html, if not, contact HP Tech Support for further assistance. You can get this info from the above link.

Good luck

hold down shift when you start it. let it go into safe mode, press control alt delete twice, and it will restart. if it keeps beeping, take it in to where you bought it and show them. tell them to fix it.
