yes. i hated my old boss ( i dont hate anyone in the world, so she was really baaaaaad) and one day she was standing there screaming at me (have you seen the devil wears parada?? well, this was worse!)
and i let her rant and rave about nothing and insult me and then i calmly picked up my coat, and said (shakily) " all your shouting has brought on one of my migraines, i am afraid i wont be in till monday" this was tuesday...... so i took the rest of the week off and went back to UK to visit my mum.
didnt need a sicknote as it would have meant her admitting being a total looney to me! and i saw my mum so i was happy.
when i went back to the office she was as nice as pie for a few weeks- heehee

Yeah, I told my boss that I had to have a day off so that I could volunteer to help children at a local high school. But actually, I went to a three days grace concert that was right up the street from my job.

I told my boss I just had to have a particular day off and it was a matter of life or death. I told him it was really important and he'd have to just trust me on that, (he did).
Then I spent that day off in Norwich seeing the 25th anniversary tour of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
It was more of an exaggeration than a lie, but I wouldn't have missed the show for anything.

Well Ithink everybody has lied one way or the other.
But the most striking one was of this guy who asked to be excused as his father had died. That was in January.
In October, he had run out of excuses and he gave his boss the same excuse and this was only discovered after he was back from the funeral

I fell down the steps and am unsure if my ankle is broken or just sprained!
We had a blackout last night while I was sleeping, I just woke up!
My left eye won't open, it may be an allergic reaction to something!
I was suppose to work today? I was sure it was my day off!

I had a job that I hated and was ready to quit. I was grossly overworked and well underpaid. To top that off, they wanted me to prepare a report in my off-time and deliver it at the semi-monthly meeting. It was the day before the meeting and I hadn't even begun the report. It pissed me off that they were even expecting that report and I was prepared to quit the job rather than bow down to another one of their overbearing demands. Fortunately, I had driven north about 2 hours on my day off to visit my parents. They just happened to live in the snow-belt area near the southern tip of Lake Michigan. Just as I was in my car and preparing to head back, it began to snow a rather heavy snow. My parents, standing at my car window, warned me that the snow accumulation could get heavy and to drive carefully. Immediately, it occurred to me that my boss, who lived 4 hours south of my parents would have no idea how much snow we received. I turned off the car and told my parents that I thought I might be able to stay several more days. I then called my boss and told him that we were snowed in and that my vehicle was, in fact, stuck in the snow a few miles from my parents home. I told them I would try to be back in time for the meeting if at all possible. Heh, heh, heh. It was a great 4 day mini-vacation, and I never did end up giving that stupid report.

I don't have any funny excuses that I've ever been able to use. None of my bosses have ever had a sense of humor. ;^)
