-12n+7>-17
[-7]
-12n>-24
[/-12]
but when you divide or multiply by a negative in an inequality, you must flip the sign
so...
n<2

-12+7>-17
-5>-17

HeAvEnLy has it. When you get to the point where you divide both sides by -1, you need to reverse the > and make it <. Check it out. If you use 3 for n, then -36 + 7 > -17 or -29 > -17 which is not correct.

-12n+7>-17 then,
-12n>-17-7
-12n>-24 then both sides devide by -12
-12n/-12>-24/-12 so the answer will be,
n>2
