My husband and I have decided not to find out the sex of our baby (we both like surprises). Some of the fun of this approach is hearing everyone's old wives tale on how to tell if it's a boy or girl. For example, my mom told me I'm having a boy because I'm still too pretty and girls supposedly take the "pretty" out of you. (I think she was just being nice to me!) Anyway, these are all in good fun - what old wives tale do you have to share with me so I can guess the sex?

Oh my....where do I start?
1. If you're carrying high, you're having a girl or if you're carrying low, you're having a boy...but I've also heard it switched, too.
2. The wedding band thing that I saw mentioned.
3. Instead of the wedding band, I've heard of a pencil being used, and it can also tell you how many children you'll have, too.
4. Drano and urine...need I say more?
5. Heart rates...a girl's is supposedly 140 or over, a boy's is below 140....my son was a pain in the butt because his would be either/or every other visit.
6. If you crave sweets, you're having a girl...if you crave sour stuff, you're having a boy.
7.If your right boob is bigger than your left, you're having a girl, if your left boob is bigger than your right, you're having a boy....

They say that if you are carrying high it is a girl and low it is a boy... Also if you are all belly and everything else is still slim they say its a boy and if you gain weight everywhere its a girl. Not sure what I believe seeing i had a boy and am now 36 wks pregnant with a girl. I have gained a lot more weight this time around! I believe that with a girl you get more of the morning sickness. Take your wedding ring & have your husband or someone hang it on a string above your belly while you're laying down. Make sure it is as still as possible & NOT swinging. Once it's still, let it hang. If it ends up swinging (on its own) back & forth then it's a boy, if in a circle it's a girl. I know this doesn't necessarily tell the gender truthfully but it sure did for my friend! Her mom used her wedding ring & it swung back & forth....sure enough she had a handsome little boy!

Here's one that to me was spooky because it was right!..haha Take a sewing needle, a thread (about 9 inches). Put the thread threw the needle and pull til in the middle. Take the two ends and hold with one finger (or have someone with steady hands hold it) over your wrist (where the pulse is). If it swings back and forth (back to front) then it is a boy. If it swings left to right, it si a girl. If it doesn't swing, it is twins or you will have many more. Now, if it first swings one way then changes to another way, that is the order inwhich you will have babies and their genders.

Hold a needle tied to thread over your wrist or belly. If it moves from side to side, it is one sex(I forgot which). If it moves in a circle, it is the other sex. (Actually, I think side to side is a boy and a circle is a girl) I can't remember anymore, but I know there are many. Look up pregnancy wivestales on the internet, I bet you find a lot.

I can't remember if this is exactly right, but I heard that you take your wedding band and tie it to a string then hold the string (with the ring dangling) above your belly. If the ring moves in a circle its a girl, if it swings back and forth its a boy.

My mom said that too. I'm 20wks pregnant and she said I'm having a boy my skins clear and i'm really active and feeling great, she said girls take everything out of you, My brother just had a girl and his gf looked like crap all the time and slept 14hrs a day and looked dead. So who knows but momma's are usually right.lol.
