At 4 months my daughter would put her hands on the bottle and if she was propped up could hold it in the position, but it was at 7 months that she was really holding it on her own. She was nursed and only got 1 bottle a day, so these she didn't have as much practice as a formula fed baby.

My daughter is almost 6 months, she will occasionally hold her bottle for a little bit, but not reliably.

They were around 2 to 3 months, but I hardly ever let them just feed themselves. That was always time that I could bond with my babies and just hold and love on them. Make them feel safe while I feed them.

My little brother and sister were never allowed to hold their own bottles. My Mom felt that feeding time was special and it is the best time to connect and bond with your baby. The only time they got to hold their drink themselves was when they were weaned off the bottle and used a sippy cup.

Mine COULD hold it at about 7 months, but I rarely let them do it on their own cause they would take it out and play with it.
