Siome people beleive that everyone can be an artist, it's just that many were discouraged when young, or lack the self-confidence to overcome initial faillures, or have suppressed their creative capacities.

Personally, I am very dubious of these theories.

What do you think?

I have bean employed in heavy industry all my working life anyone less like the popular conception of an artist would be hard to find. I tried Water colour painting as therapy after an illness and found to my surprise that I really enjoyed it. I'm no Turner but I have done decent work which relatives are happy to hang in there homes painting is therapeutic and relaxing I recommend it to anyone and yes I think everyone has an artistic streak in them . painting is a skill and there are techniques to be learnt. Artists supply shops are full of books which advise on methods and materials and many clubs and groups that are happy to accept new members and offer help and advice.

I guarantee you that anyone can be an artist. EVERYONE. Well, almost everyone.

You have to think about what art IS. I've seen elephants paint paintings that sell for thousands of dollars. And I've seen world-famous paintings that sell for a thousand times as much that look in many ways WORSE than elephant paintings. Technical skill to produce art may be helpful but it's quite obviously not strictly necessary.

The important part of an artistic endeavor must therefore be something else. Many people define art as an attempt to communicate, or something expressing or evocative of emotion. Would you be dubious that everyone could communicate or that everyone could experience emotions? I think asserting the opposite would be the ridiculous proposition.

The only exception would be people who are pretty much incapable of anything. Nobody in a coma can create art... at least not art that we're capable of interacting with. Neither can someone alive but with no brain. And so on. Not really big exceptions.

Short of that, if you experience emotions and you can try to communicate, I say you can do art. You probably won't produce DaVincis. But that hardly means that what you make won't be of value!

I have to disagree with you saying that 'everyone can be an artist' and that most godlike capability in human mind can be nipped in the bud, but I could agree with your doutfulness as I like to find out myself what is truth. The difference between artistic capabilities of and craftsmanship of a person is that crafts can be learnt whereas artist do not become artistes by acquisition of skills or by nurturing certain thoughts by any for m educational process. If this were the case then human mind would not have been able to conceive the inconceivable, and all could have been formulated into curricula of schools.

If we imagine mind like a solid surface floating upon an ocean of possibilities then the mind of a scientist is like a most logically designed boat or a ship that simply would not budge into thinking whimsically or fantastically, for it it would the complicated and methodical tasks scientific inquiries would not have been possible; and then the mind of a politician, or that of a reformer or of a military man for that matter all encounter situations where the reason behind their action undergoes rigourous testing; the decisions they make have to be logical sound and not imaginatively conceived. An artist has an option to venture into the ocean beyond the surface whereas an artizan has not.

The point I make here is that the capability of a mind to enter into the world of pure ideas and to stay at the surface of the ocean in a very accurately realistic world can only be developed when there is not other option in the mind that can complete for attention. An artist does not have only an ability but a capability in the mind, whereas logical people like lawyers ideally do not have a artistic option in their mind so all they can do best is think logically into and out of all situations, they do not as they cannot fantasise, at that well as people with natural aptitude for creative thought. The capabilities, tendencies and aptitudes of human mind are naturally set, the abilities to certain extent however can be variably developed. But only those ability reach the peak in the mind those are accommodated int natural telnets, or capabilities.

I certainly think that everyone can be taught to draw! After all that's all that writing is.... using a pen or pencil to make a certain shape!
I think some people are so discouraged as youngsters that a lot of natural ability is suppressed. The term artist to most is associated with not just being able to paint draw sculpt etc, but being successful at it.
Perhaps I see it differently as I was always encouraged to be creative whatever the medium I was using, without the term artist being used! In fact seeing what is termed as art nowadaysI'd rather just be called creative!

There is such a thing as inspiration. That is a moment of the awakening, opening of your "soul channels", of the "third eye", when you suddenly feel and see something extraordinary that is been hidden inside you and you know that at that very minute you must express it. And the thing that you've been struggling to do for ages comes out in a form of pure beauty. I don't think you can get a piece of real art with hard work only. There is always a need for that last "touch of God" - that when you create something (painting, sculpture, music, poetry, drama or even a haircut) that will be worth to be called art and will be able to inspire others.
I believe we all have the talents. And of course The beauty will save the world.

I define art as the use of symbol (be it language, movement, images, music) to communicate emotion. Can everybody do this? Everybody probably has the capacity just like everybody can sing. However; the artist is the one who hones their craft so that the communication is deeper and better than the common person. Some people have no interest in accurately communicating emotion. Some people want to deceive. Some people want to hide. Some people have never trained themselves to be able to. Others are gifted and some are challenged more.

I believe the capacity is innate. All humans can, but the quality and quantity are a combination of genetics, life experiences and personal decision.

Yes - Art skills can be learn - that is a fact. Its best if you choose a art from best suted to you. IE if you are a visual person then go for visual arts; if you are more musical go for it.

The area of the expression which needs attention. This is the bit that gets knocked out of us when we are young. We are told that what we have to say is worthless or people snigger and the such. This can be over come and the exloration / expressive aspect of our human nature can be built.

However, if by being an artist, you mean another Van Gogh well no - that takes a very extream background. But Hay - who needs to chop off their ear just to express their feelings?

Tattoo artists earn greater money over the years. The greater experiened you're and the better your portfolio is, the greater you gets a commission. It additionally relies upon on how extensive-unfold your keep is, how many tats you do each and each week, and what you cost for them. some artists by no potential cost decrease than $one hundred an hour, others bypass decrease with their repeat purchasers. additionally, in case you run your man or woman keep you will definately earn greater money. maximum artists could pay the owner a value (in many circumstances 0.5 of the cost of each and every tattoo they do) for the convience of the owner permitting them to use their keep.

After seeing what they call art these days I think yes anyone can be an artist. After all if a monkey can paint and sell a picture for thousands of pounds I`m sure I could manage it. (you want to see my writing , a spider would be proud of it).

But to be a true artist, one who will stand the test of time , I think you have to have that extra something. And that is something you are born with.
