Yes, you can explore yourself. For example, there are body parts, such as on your back, that you rarely if ever see, except in the mirror. You can also explore your feelings, to decide which way you want to go. And, yes, I know something about knowledge:
For one thing, information that we often think is knowledge is not..because knowledge implies that we KNOW, for certain, that it is true. An example of that is when school systems taught that the world was flat, assuming that was "knowledge" when it was, in fact, just another incorrect theory.

Good question. First, to know something we have to define it, know what it's composed of, where it came from etc. This is
easy if that thing is something other than ourselves because we can see it fully etc. In life, there are lots of unknowns.
It's just like being in a theatrical play, you are there but you don't know why. You don't know who the Director or the Producer of the play is and you don't have the script. What would you do to be able to know? You may first go and watch the play by being part of the audience and see the flow of the play, what the props is about and how the stage was set up. You will also see who seems to know what their doing and ask them some questions.
Life is somehow like this. You look at the cells inside your body, they constantly divide witout your permission, your heart keeps pumping constantly. When you look at this, you can't help but
conclude that there is an Intelligence that we cannot see that makes this so, this Intelligence has a pro-survival Goal, and this Intelligence has an Intelligent design that guides the processes that goes on in His creation. There are things that are given that we can't tamper with and He left us a portion of His creation that we can do something about, so we can co-create with Him.We can change our thoughts for example from that of creating contra-survival stuff in different areas of our life or creating pro-survival stuff in it. We can move our hands to the left or the right depending on what we decide to do. Those are the things we have control over. If our thoughts and actions are aligned with His design then we will create a life of happiness, infinite happiness. Why? because This energy that's behind creation is driven by pure love. You will come to know this when you experience this energy. Some do that by meditating on So-Hum or Hum-So which means "I am that " over and over again for 15 minutes or more, upon wakiong up and before they retire at night beliving on the premise that "What you think so you become". Some close their eyes and empty their thoughts and meditate on being a rosebud opening its petals or being the sky looking over all. There are some other techniques, you choose by trying different ones and selecting that which works for you. Knowledge is that which you learn which you apply in your everyday life. Experience is the best teacher they say, how wil you know love if you haven't love? So, you have to find a way where you can experience the Source so you can plug-in to That everyday and "Know" Him, hence know yourself for you are made in His likeness...

- For exploring oneself one has to KNOW about oneself or have knowledge about self.
- The definition of knowledge according to wikipedia encyclopedia is:
'The awareness and understanding of facts, truths or information gained in the form of experience or learning (a posteriori), or through introspection (a priori). '
-Knowledge or 'Gyan' as called in hindu vedas comes from meditation and self inspection.
- Practical steps for knowing yourself are:
* Meditate:
> Sit silently and think.
> Think about yourself at the start.
> Try visualising what you are thinking as if happening in your head.
> As the days pass try widening your horizon by including, you surroung, the neighbours, then your country and ultimately the whole universe in your mind.
> Slowly you will move away from yourself.
> And as you move away from yourself you will be able to understand yourself better, as a complete being.
> By this understanding you can become your own guide and guide yourself to explore each and every facet of your being.
* Drive away fear:
> Do not let fear hamper you.
> Do what you want and what you feel by your knowledge as correct.
> Fear is the biggest deterrent for all human race.

Place yourself in various situations, gain experience. You will, over time learn much about yourself. Imagine that your abilities are tools. You have a tool box but haven't opened it up or figured out how to use all the tools. Until you try them out and get into practical situations where you can find out how your "tools" (or talents) work, you won't know yourself as well as you might.

You cannot fully know yourself.Why?
1John 3:20 because if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Only GOD can fully understand us.
About knowledge, there are 2 kinds of it.
James 3:15 This wisdom is not a wisdom that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
See, wisdom from the devil & wisdom from above.

There are many layers around so called SELF.
Like onion skin. Even though there are lot of layers of skin in onion, there is a outer skin which is visible and accessible to all.
In the similar manner, there is a outer skin of SELF, which is visible and accessible to all. We have to start working from that to achieve the goal. That outer skin of SELF is mind.
So we have to start analysing our own thoughts and it's pattern. Our travel inwards will get started once we start this.
One day we will discover SELF.
Best of luck.
