No. I know what I need to do but there's only so much I can change at once. The trick is to know the difference between a better person and a more acceptable person, and to choose what is actually better.

I think most people that are good at heart wish to be a better person, unfortunately they aren't the ones who really need to do it so much. I try to be decent and kind to everyone and give people the benefit of the doubt in situations but then I might turn around and say something snippy about a dear friend, maybe groan when I see her name on the caller ID or something. But even the best of people are still human, and I guess most everybody does and says things they shouldn't. I guess being a good person helps you to realize when you are out of line and want to fix it.
As for how to do this, I guess we have to find our faults then just try to correct them.

Of course! If we do not change or grow we become stagnant. Mankind thrives on change.

I would look around and search inside yourself and find something that "hits home" what do you like? sports, movies, animals? When you have found something you enjoy, the best way to feel better is to share what you love with someone who otherwise doesn't get the chance to experience it. Otherwise start small, do one kindness a day and go from there.

Yes, but I looked inside myself more and meditated. Tried to understand who I am, why I do things and respond the way I do. What I've come up after observing myself for a time is a better understanding of why I am the way I am. I can forgive myself for some feelings I have and my responses, but I never beat myself up for anything I do. Treat myself with total love and acceptance.

Yes, here is a poem I wrote about it, can you relate ?
All you can do is evaluate your life and where its at and then hand your life over to God. You will become all you were meant to be when you trust God to guide your life.

Face in the Mirror

Actions, not intentions
are what those around you see,
looking at it that way
what do they see in me ?

I know in the mirror
this face unknown to me,
a reflection of the things I've done
not the intentions inside of me.

With the passing of each day
within myself I flee,
trying to hide from the man I am
but never getting free.

The face in the mirror
the one looking back at me,
is the face of a stranger
not the man intended to be.

Oh, I think we all know how but sometimes it's just pure laziness that steps in. It's just too much of a bother to have to change.
We get used to our comfort zone and tend to stay there. It's easier and less scary.
