Depends on the size of your family, the number of bathrooms you have, etc. Personally, I wouldn't buy less than a 50 gallon tank, since the difference in price between various size tanks is so small.

Depends on not only how many people are living in the house, but also what type (gas or electric) you are installing. So with the information you provided, my suggestion would be to install at least a 40 gallon gas or 50 gallon electric water heater. You might also consider the tankless water heaters.

It depends on how many people you have in your house and how often water will be in used simultaneously in the house. If you have a big tub that also factors in to the decision. Most whirlpool tubs require 50 and 75 gallons of water to operate.

OMG you dont buy a bigger. tank cause the differance in prices isnt that much...a bigger tank will use sometimes 2-3 times more energy! And if you DONT need it why spend that money! I have a family of four and find a 30 gallon tank is fine...just have to wait 20 minutes between showers.

buy an on demand water heater. they cost a bit more up front, but will save a ton of $$$$$$$$ over time, plus you can get major tax refunds for using such units
