I have absolutely no idea. Seems a complete waste of time to me. I refuse to watch any show where hollywood or mtv types blubber on about how great they are and the socialist cause of the day.

Straight women and gay men watch the Academy Awards to make catty and mean comments about the dresses the rich famous actresses are wearing.
Straight men and lesbian women couldn't be so bothered to watch the Oscars, because it's lame and boring. So we watch basketball or hockey instead!

I have no idea why people watch the Academy awards. I don't watch them myself. Too BORING.

Well, they want to see their favorite actors and actressess receive an Oscar for their hard work. They feel that they are apart of that celebration which they live through the televison and other sorts of media. Basically, it's just to escape the fantasy of their life and be apart of someone who seems to have a better life then their own. Pseudo-happiness is what I call it. It can be very displeasing if you let it take control of your life and values.

they watch the show to see if your favorite actor actor or actress wins the award( to see who's the best) and to see what's the number 1 show, music etc
