I heard about air pressure when I was young and I have wondered about it for years. Makes sense because where there is no air there is no gravity. So curious. Thanks Mmm

A large metal ball in the center of our world was what held us all on like a magnet.lol. That is what I was taught in school about 60 years ago. Sorry I didn't keep up with the times huh. lol

Gravity is the effecton on any body in the universe due to the attraction between it and all other bodies and of any centrifugal force that may act on the body because of its motion in an orbit. The gravity created on the earth is due to: (1) The fact that it has mass, all mass creates an attractive force working on other mass. (2) The fact that the earth is rotating. The motion of rotation causes all the mass to be atracted to the center of rotation. The further you are from the center, the less effect the force has on you.

The pressure of air pressing down on the earth's surface is caused by the gravitational pull of the earth on the air. The molecules that make up air have mass, there for air has mass.

Starting at the beginning, air pressure about our planet is due to the force of gravity pulling the primary gasses of oxygen and nitrogen downward, compressing them. There must exist, first, the gasses in order for them to be held in place and compressed. This is evidenced by our moon. Though it has its own gravitational field, there are no gasses about that solar object so there can be no air pressure formed.

Lastly, there is an origin to the force of gravity. It is the heat energy contained within our planet. The physics trilogy describes this reality. The trilogy is: E = mc2, m = E/c2, and c2 = E/m. The last is that for a gravitational field. It shows there is an energy product formed when mass and heat energy are combined - that energy system is gravity. This understanding changes what had been thought of as being necessary in the past for forming a gravitational field - that of a dense metalic sphere in the center of our planet performing the work. In order for work to be performed, there must be a continual forthcoming energy source, which the old system did not allow for.

http://360.yahoo.com/noddarc there is a short writing concerning gravity. It is entitled "Magnetism and Gravity". It is short and easy to read.

No. Gravity is the force of attraction felt between two masses. According to Sir Isaac Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation, F=G(m1*m2)/r^2. This law states that every particle in the universe is attracted to every other particle in the universe through a constant and this force becomes weaker by the square of the distance between them. Think, if it was a metal ball in the center of the Earth then it couldn't explain the effects of gravity between two neighboring galaxies, and if it was air pressure it wouldn't explain anything past the Earth's atmosphere.

Where's a good place to even begin????

Gravity is a force that exists between any objects that have mass. It's what holds the Moon in orbit around the Earth, it's what holds the Earth in orbit around the Sun, and it's what holds the Sun in its orbit around the Milky Way Galaxy. It has nothing to do with air pressure, metal balls, or anything else.

Perhaps you should take a class in introduction to fundamentals of science.

Gravity is everywhere -- whoever told you that "where there is no air there is no gravity" is wrong.

Air pressure on earth is created by gravity pulling on air, causing it to push down on the surface of the planet.

Other than that I do not understand your question... your additional details only added to my confusion.

What are you asking?
