Let's say I'm a junior with a 3.6 GPA. If I can improve my GPA by next year, do you think I can get into Stanford, Brown, Boston College, MIT, Columbia, University of Chicago, and Berkeley?

Thanks for the answers guys... i have not alot of extra-curricular activities but that might change when i get car. I am at a school that offers a good handful of honors, AP, and IB courses, but i am only interested in the classes that, well, interest me. I have alot of will-power towards business, marketing, advertising, and e-commerce.

I would say you could probably get in now--just make sure you have other things to put on your application (extracurricular activities, such as sports, volunteering, student organizations, etc.) Run for student gov't--you can get up to $10,000 in scholarships from most universities for just holding an office, and some universities have scholarships for non-office representatives.

Truthfully it would all depend on how involved u are in school, sports, what classes you take, and your connections to those schools. Personally im a senior with 3.8gpa and involved in numerous clubs and activities taking on many leadership roles. Standford, Brown, and MIT would be stretches for me so i didnt apply there. Got accepted to U of C and my friend got accepted to BC with similar grades. Try and take as many honors or AP courses as you can even if you dont get the A+ because it tells colleges that you are willign to challenge yourself.

All of these are great schools but none of them go by just gpa. My best friend had a 4.0 but did not get into MIT because she did not stand out. Everyone applying has a great gpa so you have to go above and beyond with community service, sports, extraciricular activities, etc. It's no longer good enough to have just good grades.

depends on activities and what not...BC and Berkeley aren't as hard to get into as U of C, Brown, Standford, MIT etc...You may want to spend less time on the internet and more time hitting the books.

maybe, they look at other things too. they look at your test scores ad extracuriccular activities such as clubs, sports, volunteering, etc. it also helps if you know someone who went there too mainly a relative. good luck!
