I think that some shampoos are designed so that your hair looks greasy really fast - meaning that you have to wash it really frequently!

Actually, when I was growing up I thought I was supposed to wash my hair every day. I simply wasn't told any different. When I got older, I read that every other day was the way to go for normal hair. This actually helped some of the dry-scalp dandruff I was having. Later than that, I discovered that since my hair is really fine and I get highlights in it, every third day is okay or second day if my scalp seems greasy from sweat.
I guess it's just habit for a lot of people... and many of us aren't well-trained on the best way to take care of our hair.

I cannot stand to get dressed without taking a shower and washing my hair, I just don't feel clean and I'm uncomfortable all day. I have a couple of friends who don't wash their hair every day, and I think their head STINKS! As for the hair in the drain, some people shed a lot of hair every day no matter how often they wash their hair.

Well really Its not good to wash it daily because it strips the hair from its oils that keep it soft, i used to but now my hair is much easier to deal with..i wash it every other day or two but maybe some girls do because they use alot of hair product and sprays, i don't. if i go any longer then a couple days in between it begins to look too "oily".

It's not a hygiene problem. Some women have oily or fine hair and when they don't wash it everyday it tends to look dirty or oily. It can also make it harder for them to fix their hair if it's not clean. And then some women just feel cleaner with clean hair. I wash my daily because my hair is fine and is very flat and hard to fix if it's not very clean. And I also just like to be clean.

I have shorter thin hair that requires a lot of products to style. By the time I sleep on all that hairspray it's a matted mess. So each morning I have to wash and start over to get the best result.

I have oily skin and thus I have oily hair. If I don't wash my hair everyday it becomes a disgusting greasy mess. Which is the bigger hygiene problem people who need to wash but don't or people who need to wash more than you think they should?

Some use tons of products, some have short hair, some have dead oily hair.
It depends. I HAVE to wash 3 times a week or my scalp becomes an oil field.

If your hair is oily, as mine can get, you need to wash it everyday or it starts to stick to your head and smell. Now that it is a bit dryer, I wash it every couple of days.
