He has won 3. He won Best Male Actor in 1975 for "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" for his role as Randall McMurphy. He won another one in 1983 for Best Actor in a Suppporting Role for his role as Garrett Breedlove in "Terms of Endearment". His final win was in 1997 for Best Male Actor for "As Good As It Gets" for his role as Melvin Udall.
He also holds the title for the most nominated male actor with 12 Oscar nominations to date.

he won 3 oscarsfor movies the others says,the great thing is he won a oscar in 70's,a oscar in 80's, and the other one in 90 's.i hped he won an oscar the year but he didnt.
