Over yonder - over there
Hop, skip and a jump - a location that's close
that dog don't hunt - someone or something that dosen't work in a particular situation
put lipstick on a pig - make something really ugly presentable

Also, "Them Damn Yankees . . .!" (If the sky was blue, if the sky was overcast, if it rained, if it shined, if it was hot, if it was cold, if they had a car wreck, if their child failed a class, etc. etc. etc.) This was directed at ME several times, and I'm from a Southern state!!!!!
Heard these phrases SO MUCH when we lived in the South, started having nightmares about them!
