Everyone gave great suggestions!

I don't know where you live, but you may also be able to get a work permit (ask about it at your school), and work at a fast food place or a retail store about 4 hours a day. I think you have to have good grades (about a C average), and you have to keep your grades at that level or higher.

Not only can you shovel leaves, but if you live in a cold-weather area, you can ask if you can shovel the snow. The senior citizens (that still have their own homes), people who can't get out, and people who just don't feel like clearing the snow themselves are very good candidates. Be kind, and lower your rates a bit for the seniors.

Perhaps you can walk dogs if you aren't allergic and like dogs.

As for babysitting games, depending on the age of the child, young children are easiest. Old games and activities entertain them, because they have never heard of them before. Simon Sez, Riddles, Jokes, etc. Action games, where they have to move around in place are good. Make a list and be sure to go over the list with parents, in case a child has health or other restrictions. You can also read to a child. Read both short and slightly longer sories. And make sure there are pictures for younger charges.Remember to use voices, and make it entertaining, and don't finish every story. You can also do easy crafts, the popsicle stick or foam/paper plate type. Bring your own supplies. You can also find in expensive premade kits at hobby stores. Take care to watch out for small parts: a choking hazard in very young children.

You can go to the library and look for party game books, rainy day game books and other game books. Look for joke and riddles game books. Look for books (modern books) on babysitting. I say modern books because they will likely address issues that relate to our present society.

Also remember to get cell phone numbers, and the number of the place the parents will be going to. You can find little babysitting forms, that you can fill in, or make your own based on the instructions found in a babysitting book.

Know where the fire extinguisher is, and kep the phone , and child/children in sight at all times, except for the bathroom. Even then, stay nearby without guarding the door (unless it's a toddler, who may need help).

When you get the money, (or you may want to borrow it from a parent) consider taking a first aid class, some are free, but you have to check a lot of places. Check online with the red cross.
This will make you a very valuable babysitter to have around.

Notify people when you will not be available as far as soon as you know. You don't have to give details, just tall them you won't be available, a specify the dates (from-to). And call eveyone to let them know when you are available to babysit or (do whatever neighborhood job) again.

Most people covered volunteer opportunities. Hospitals, the public library, school, churches, are great places to check out. Make sure your parents are okay with the churches.

Be safe, practice safety, be responsible, and be prompt.

God bless you, and I hope you find all the work you can handle! Don't forget to save!

And I hope this helps!

Rake leaves in the fall, shovel snow in the winter, mow lawns in the spring and summer. I made a ton of money that way when I was younger. Also check with your local hospital and see if they have volunteers there. Animal shelters, Libraries, soup kitchens, ect. You just have to look around.

Volunteer? = no pay.
You have to be at least 16 years old and with a parent consent you can work. Talk to your school counselor regarding getting a job after school.

Mowing lawns, delivering paper, baby sitting, washing windows, delivering groceries to the elderly or people with disabilities etc.
Volunteer at a homeless shelter (soup kitchen), old age home, the hospital or at your local animal shelter.

To give your time, become a cuddler in a Neonatal intensive care unit, My cuddler for my son was a life saver to me, I knew some one who cared was holding him while I was away showering, or trying to spend a moment with my older daughter at home.
Its been 18 years and we still send Hello's at Christmas, Ill never forget her
