A blank DVD can normally hold aroung 4.5 Gb of data, which may hold upto 8 hours of video.

Perfectly ok dude.. 1 DVD will be perfect to hold those 8 hrs of video. :)

It depends on how you burned your videos into the DVD itself.
There are two formats that are playable in DVDs MPEG1 and MPEG2 standard. The MPEG1 standard is the one used in Video CD and are lower quality compared to MPEG2, but have also smaller file sizes. MPEG2 is the one used in normal DVD movies.

Roughly 8 hours of video in the MPEG1 format is 4.8GBs.
