Is it abuse to be negligent to your child? Who was watching this childs diet? It may not actually be abuse, but someone wasn't teaching their child good eating habits. It's pretty common.

I'm not quite sure if it would be abuse, but, letting your child be obese by letting them eat what they want when they want it is just harming them. Some kids can be so mean and tease a child for any reason. Not to mention the health concerns for a heavy child.

But if the child does have a medical problem (i.e. thyroid, disease) it can't really be helped. But dr's would advise on the diet.

But there are some people out there that say "oh my child is so heavy or obese" but then they stop at a fast food place again and let them get what they want, or let them eat all the little debbies they want.

What happened to fruit, fruit snacks, veggie snacks, etc. This is what my kids eat. Healthy snacks and they have little debbies in limited quantities. Not 5 a day.

I don't know the full story on that kid, but I feel bad for him. Yes, his parents are responsible if they are feeding him food that is junk and not nutritional. Yes, the government has way too much say in our lives and our children's. However, there are times when they need to intervene for the good of the child.

They have a lot of say because some parents do not look after their children properly. I do think that over feeding a child is abuse.

The British boy is only 8, weighs over 200 pounds and has lost over 40. The news showed him eating frozen french fry sandwiches. His mother has admitted to emotional problems. They both need help, he needs to be hospitalized. It's against the law to supply a minor with tobacco and alcohol, morbid obesity is just as deadly.
