No, it won't hurt the baby. I've been waking up on my belly every night too, and I've found it to be quite uncomfortable. Tonight I'm considering wedging myself with pillows so I can't flip to my belly.
The thing about sleeping on your side is that when you get really big, you physically can't. Also, the blood flow to the placenta is supposedly increased by sleeping on your left side. Everyone agrees that it is more important to GET sleep, rather than to worry about what position you are in while you sleep.

Enjoy sleeping on your stomach whilst you can, I missed it like crazy when I was pregnant! It's perfectly safe for the baby to sleep on your stomach if you can. When the baby sticks out far enough to get a bit squashed by it, all the baby does is squish your internal organs in return so it's as uncomfortable as anything! Then you'll find you won't do it anymore! This happened to me at around 21 weeks. Don't worry, enjoy your pregnancy. The lil guy is well protected in there!

I slept on my side/stomach until it felt like i was curling up with a basketball(and both of kids are just fine btw). Try getting a body pillow, put it between your knees and under your belly when you sleep on your side(for when you are little bit bigger), and two pillows for your head. If that doesnt help, then maybe try getting a foam mattress liner for under the sheets to make it a bit more comfortable.
You cannot sleep on your back for LONG periods of time though. The baby would be position directly on a vein that supplys blood flow to it.

no! Don't let people tell you otherwise! I slept on my stomach until I was about 6 1/2 - 7 months along. Do what feels comfortable. Women who were pregnant hundreds of years ago didn't have all these "don't sleep this way" rules. All their babies are fine!

No it wont. Not at all. There is no way of sleeping that will ever hurt the baby. If you're comfy, so is baby. If your limbs hurt or fall asleep, you roll over and all is well. Its natural.
The left side thing is just a suggestion.

Nope your body won't let you stay there once it is uncomfortable. However there are also special mattresses for women who like to sleep on their belly when pregnant. It is perfectly safe so long as you are supported and not putting all your weight on the baby's blood supply.
