I've just heard on the Radio that the Chinese stock market has slumped today and this is having huge knock-ons world wide.

Were I to guess, I would estimate some news bit has come out indicating a rise in interest rates.
Given recent energy price spikes, I would look to energy news.
Best guess since this is Europe is likely something to do with Russian gas exports, combined with recent tensions in the Persian Gulf.
But this is simply the best guess by someone who reads a lot, and is not quite up to speed with the ebbs and flows of European exchanges.

i haven't noticed to-day but i dont think it would be profit taking on a Tuesday so some big company has blooped or sunk
