Everest is if you only count above water. If not, then the main island of Hawaii is technically a mountain and is much higher than Everest from the bottom of the ocean where it starts to it's peak above sea level.

Everest is the highest, it is in the Himalayas in Asia between China and India. Measured from its base to its top, Mauna Kea in Hawai'i is the highest, starting at 19,000 ft. below the surface of the ocean and rising almost 14,000 above. The mountain with the largest mass of any mountain in the world is Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawai'i.
