we were thinking about going to either:
Denmark, Poland, Sweden, or Germany?

We've both been to Spain and Italy numerous times and thought about going to a different European country. I'm going with my friend to Prague in March.

Anyway any suggestions are welcome - I don't really know much about any of the countries suggested...

Denmark and Sweden are a ferry-ride apart, you could do them both if you wanted. But if you like your booze, both countries are very expensive. I liked Copenhagen, though, it's a lovely city and the people are quite friendly.

Never been to Poland, can't help you there.

Germany - depends on what you like, each region is different. If you stay in the SE, you could do a couple of day trips into Austria. Stay in NW, you could pop into the Netherlands for a few hours. Berlin is very happening at the moment, I've heard. I'd actually recommend the city of Munich, I had a great time there when I was a student.

why not try a trip around Croatia and Bosnia visiting Zagreb, Pula, Split, Plitvice Lakes, Hvar Island, Dubrovnik, Sarajevo, Mostar, and finishing again in Zagreb?

If that's no good, then Germany is my recommendation...

start in Berlin, visit Dresden, then head to the Rhine Valley and take one of the cruises down from Cologne to Mainz ....

Happy Trails
