Because it's a classic Karl Rove tactic - Accuse your opponents of doing what you do on a regular basis and then pretend to be completely OUTRAGED!!! by it.

Racism? It permeates the republican party, we see it in their elected officials, sure there are a few token black people who know their place and their limits, but basically, it's the same good ole boy party who embraced the segregationist Dixiecrats. The Democrats have traditionally represented the interests of minorities and Republicans are well aware of it, so whenever they can twist reality they will accuse Dem. of being racist, sexist, homophobes. It's called projection.

Make your weakness your strength and make your opponent's strength , their weakness.

Ok, now that the question was sent for a run at the ol´ Editing Mill, I feel I can give a comprehensible answer. Some ´reps´ make up crap about racism, because they played EVERY other card and those didn´t work, so they figured a pair of tens would take in the jackpot. But then again ´libs´ do that too. Last I checked, Islam was not a race, but a religion - a religion started by a pedophile who murdered thousands of people and wrote a manifesto/scripture full of graphic commands to kill more people. I think someone who followed such a religion has some questions to answer if he wants to be the one with his finger on the trigger.

Wasn't that story false. I heard Fox broadcast it with much delight only to find they didn't vett the story well enough. Only used one source.
