People, water is not blue! Water is clear. It looks blue cause it reflects the sky. Go and try it out. Go to the ocean or lake that looks blue and take a clear glass and fill it with lake water. Look at the glass. WOW! Water is clear!!!!

Look mate, this question was asked twice before but not in the Aussie Answers. The answer is that air molecules reflect light. And as the way to here in noon is short, the long wave lengthed blue colour appear. But, at noon, all the long wavelengthes reflect in that long way. Nevertheless, the red could pass it (it has short wave length) and we see red sky.

the sky isnt actually blue it just looks that way do to the the way the sun light passes through certain gasses in the atmosphere

The sky isnt blue , the sun reflects on the sea making it shine in the sky making it look blue ( something like that )

Here we go again....

NOT because it reflects the ocean--this is a common myth

It is actually because the blue light from the sun's rays is reflected (refracted?) down to earth, so that's what we see.
