Chemistry really isn't as hard to learn if you really UNDERSTAND what is going on first. some reactions you are just going to HAVE to memorize - there is no way around it, but others can be figured out.

simple. look at it this way, all rxns are balanced, means that always chek that the products and reactants sum up i.e.
CL2 + H = HCL this equation is wrong because the products have only one CL and the reactants have 2 therefore the correct one is
CL2 + 2H = 2HCL. see?

you may also want to identify what type of reaction it is i.e. displacement, oxidation, reduction e.t.c. here it will be most useful for you to memorise the reactivity series.

what type of reactions. for organic i always sugest pushing electrons. for others it's a matter of learning what complexes are possible and following the rules
