I put on 13.5 pounds in pregnancy, most of it from week 34. I wasn't showing until I was 30 weeks and was still wearing normal jeans (although a size larger than I normally take!) the day before I gave birth. I lost 16-17lbs the day my daughter was born and was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans two days after her birth. My total weight gain between two weeks before pregnancy and two weeks after - minus 18 pounds. My daughter weighed seven and a half pounds, I ate a very well balanced diet throughout my pregnancy and she was /is perfectly healthy, as am I. I'm small framed to begin with and a size 8-10 so it just goes to show every woman is different.
I recommend pregnancy as a diet!

It varies from person to person. I'm 11 weeks pregnant and have lost 4 pounds since week 3. I've started eating fish sticks everyday for lunch though so I'll probably be packing on the pounds very soon! :)
I think the general rule is you "should" gain about 5 pounds by week 20. Then, on average, 1 pound a week until you pop. That is about 25 pounds in total. I think most people gain more though.
For my first pregnancy, I gained 40 pounds, but lost 25 at the hospital. The last 15 trickled off during the next 6 months post-pardom. Don't worry about getting fat...it's your time to splurge!! If you are conscious about your weight afterwards, it will come off. And also, once you have the baby, everyone is paying attention to him/her and NO ONE cares about you or cares what you look like! hee hee!
Good Luck!

You gain the most, steady weight during the last weeks of pregnancy when the baby is steadily growing. The rest of the pregnancy varies with each woman. I gained 30 lbs with #1 and 15 lbs with #2, #3, and #4. I gained all over with each pregnancy, even my feet went up in size. If you are pigging out, the weight comes on very fast throughout the entire pregnancy.

I've gained about half a pound to a pound a week since the 4th week. I'm told this is perfectly normal, as you are supposed to gain .75 pounds a week.
For me, the weight started to show around the 11th week. I was out of my normal pants by the 10th week, and now I'm in exclusively maternity pants at the 15th week.
Everyone's different, though. I know some women who were so sick through the first trimester that they lost weight and then they put on 20 pounds in the second trimester.
The trick is that as long as you are within "normal" ranges, you should be fine.

Your doctor can set weight gain goals with you . If you are already over weight you only have to gain about 15 to 20, if your normal weight i think its like 25 to 35 or somewhere in there. My doctor said you shouldn't gain a lot in the beginning and should gain most of it towards the end.

With my first baby i gained 25lbs most of it i gained in my last trimester. It was like 3-5lbs around week 30 or 31 and i saw the nurse practitioner that time and she said oh my you are gaining to much too fast but then i talked to my doc and he said i was just fine. With my second i gained 35lbs most of it in my fourth month. it was also easier for me to loose the weight from my first one than from my second. my doctor told me all women and different and every pregnancy is different so i'm sure you just fine but if you have any questions or concerns you can always ask your doctor..no question for them is silly and they probably head it a million times and have no problem answering you.

Its different for every woman, with my daughter I gained 40 lbs. and it was all in my belly. I started getting bigger about 5 months. I am pregnant now, 6 weeks and it seems like I have started to show a little earlier than last time.

It depends on how much you work out and what you do to get the weight off. It is all up to you.
