Could anyone please tell me whether a child born on 15th January, 2006 was born in the year of the dog or the cockerel as the date is near to the change over of years in the Chinese calendar.

29th January, 2006 is the spring festival. So before 29th January is still the cockerel year.

Actually Chinese NY in 2006 fell on 29th Jan. The child would be a cockerel as it was before the changeover.

Cockerel. Chinese New Year last year was still February.

i have just looked on my Chinese calender (which i got from the Chinese restaurant) and it definitely is the year of the dog. hope this helped.
