The song refers to a magic board, and says something about placing your money down. Who sang the song, what is the title and what is the money game that the song refers too?

There's a song by CCR called "WIlle and the Poor Boys" (down on the corner, out in the street, WIllie and Poor Boys are playin, bring a nickel, tap your feet....).

Here's the verse you're refering to:

You don't need a penny
Just to hang around
But if you've got a nickel
Won't you lay your money down?
Over on the corner
There's a happy noise
People come from all around
To watch the magic boy
