We enjoy seeing beautiful things and people. Somewhere along our evolutionary line, we picked up the appreciation for aesthetically pleasing things. Some people tend to go way over board with the physical "beauty", or whatever they or others define as it, and tend to ignore other inner qualities. This "pandering" is largely found in the media and those that follow it way to closely....

i don't get it either. I know its more important in western cultures and it causes a lot of unhappiness and grief among women mostly.I ve been to Southern African countries where being fat is sexy !! They don't judge you about the way you look and no-one is obsessed with being a size 0 or whatever .
The world would be a much better place without all this obsession with looks and image.

Because we are naturally drawn to beauty.
Just remember, beauty is subjective & people will perceive different things as beautiful. This could be people, art, a scenic view...
