It's really simple to "damage" a computer. Go to his house and beat the computer with a ball bat.

Being as you are not computer smart do you think he might have been bulls*itting you? Are you sure the file is this big. 800mb is a massive size for a file and you might be actually trying to delete something quite important.
A while back people were flooding peoples email addresses with important information about a virus that was doing the rounds. The email told you what it was called and the file had a teddy bear as an icon. Deleating this would screw up your computer as it was a major windows program. Lots of people had to have their computers reformatted and windows reloaded. It might be worth having a quick word to your local PC shop who could advise you. They might even give you a diagnostic if you take it in to them. Or... get another friend who knows all about computers and get him/her to take a look at it for you. I would advise against deleating things yourself unless you know what you are doing...
Revenge wise, as said previous just sign up for all sorts of stuff using his email addy. He will get sick to the back teeth of them after a while as they do seem to go on forever.

Then don't open the file, just delete it.
If for some reason you DID open a file you shouldn't have, you might try to repair your system by booting to XP's Recovery Console and manually deleting the file, and then booting to Safe Mode and remove anything suspicious from the startup group and the Registry "Run" keys in HKey_Local_Machine and HKEY_Current_User.
I will not tell you how to damage someone else's computer.

type Fdisk/MBR at the prompt...
and if as you assert, your "friend" has locked the file, then boot from a (floppy) and delete the file thru DOS.
if youre on XP, then spend 3 quid and buy a copy of linux 2007, this runs off teh CD and can delete any files, regardless of what windows is doing...

Well, you could always get a baseball bat and whack the side of his computer. Not real subtle, but I do think he would get the point. Of course, he might also have you arrested, so this may not be a great option.
