can progesterone help with alopecia?

I have been experiencing patchey alopecia for about 2 years now and I'd like to know whether a 59 yr old who has had a hysterectomy since 1995 (ovaries in tact) can benefit from progesterone?

i have not seen any data on this, something that is indeed helpful is steroid shots in the lesions if alopecia areata is the actual diagnosis, you will have to talk to a dermatologist, good luck
