That's not a surprise

I didn't know that... and I suspect the main reason I didn't know that is that is has no basis in reality. Doing a quick search, I cannot find any mention in published sources of his IQ. And in recalling all the years of coverage of Michael, I cannot recall any mention of this. But let's go ahead and look at the number anyway.

Assuming an IQ of 90 being accurate, you would have to assume that the result is one with at least a 10 point standard deviation. Though even in that case, that could also mean a lower result. Also, if you consider Michael Schumacher's age, any IQ tests would place him in the middle of the Flynn Effect (which shows that average IQ has been increasing as world population has increased). This would make the effective IQ nearly 20 points under average, and in the range of mental retardation.

While limited reflexes and motor skills would be a likely sign, so would speech problems. Seeing as he is quite adept in both his native German as well as English, this seems provide a good amount of empirical data to bring that into question. And unless there is a consipiracy to hide the fact that ALL F1 drivers suffer from significant lack of motor skills and coordination (maybe even going as far as to employ stunt doubles and special effects for them walking to their cars), then Schumacher would have been at a significant handicap against other drivers. 7 championship titles would tend to hint that he is in fact more skilled than other contemporary drivers - both in terms of stategy and physical coordination.
