My laptop will turn on, but once it gets past the Windows logo screen, it just stops on a blank screen with the computer on. I tried booting it in safe mode but all i got was a long list of file names for drivers in the system32 folder of the windows folder.

i ran a hard drive test and it said i have a read error

That long list in Safe Mode is normal. Wait another minute or so and it will hopefully boot into Safe Mode.
I would advise you to re-insert your Windows CD and run a repair on your current installation. That may worth a shot. Good luck.

do u have more than two anti virus programs running??? cause if u do then yeah ur laptop wont work.... so make sure u have just the one.. and u may need to reinstall windows and yes just one anti virus running !!i had the same problem... heres the solution !
