Because if they like you they don't want their friends to like you in fear that one of their friends will steal you away...girls are competitive creatures, and if they can dissuade the competition then they have nothing to worry about.

Pier pressure is not easy to overcome. Fear of being made fun of is always in the back of their minds. Keep on, and be patient. It takes a lot of growing up to buck the system.

depends on her age. younger girls are trying to fit into two social groups (boys and their female peers) at the same time. this can be very confusing when deciding how to act. by the way...boys do it too.

probably because boys act like they like you until their friends come around?!!
to me, it's a lack of self-confidence.. it's like you're ashamed of them or something, which is just NOT cool!

They don't want their friends to see them too girly around a guy, or they don't want them to get the wrong idea.

that's mean u'r not hot or cool... girls always wanna to show that they only befriends with guys that are cool or hot... not just normal...
