1. Huey and co. have been around for quite a few years as a syndicated comic strip in the USA. The cartoonist is Aaron McGruder. The Boondocks became an animated TV series only recently.

3. Some of the daily strips that I liked featured the awards ceremonies. In a strip from March 2003 (if I remember rightly), Huey and best friend Caesar (Caesar is not in the TV version) were filming their annual alternative African American awards for embarrassing black people who had put back progress amongst the community (March immediately follows Black History Month in USA). That day's strip had Huey announcing the winner of the "Bobby & Whitney Prize for the Most Embarrassing African American Couple". The winners that year were ....... Bobby & Whitney! You'll see reference to the awards in the wikipedia page about the cartoonist.
