You are not legally automatically an adult after you have given birth.
i know this is strange, but hey its the English Legal system.
A 14 year old girl may be able to give her consent for surgery if it can be proved that she is competent using the Gillick guidelines (within the case of the same name) though she can't refuse surgery if her parents insist.
However even if she still requires parental consent for surgery to herself she will probably be able to give parental consent for a child of her own. to give parental consent you need to have parental responsibility. there are anumber of ways of obtaining this, but for your purposes any woman who physically gives birth to a child is deemed the mother of that child and therefore has parental responsibility. she therefor has authority to give parental consent beyond Gillick principles.

The child must get consent for the surgery from its legal guardian. If that person is the 14 year old mother, so be it. Though, you are not automatically an adult when you give birth at an age younger than 18. (can't vote, buy porn, buy cigarrettes, go clubbing, get a hotel room, etc.)

The child's parent or guardian has to give permission before any elective surgical procedure can be carried out on her or her child. In the UK a child does not become an adult until she is 18 regardless of how many children she has had. What the word "gillick" means I am not clear in this context.

Although a 14 year old is quite capable of giving birth, that act, in and of itself, does not make them an adult. Anyone under the age of 18and unmarried needs a parent or guardian to approve care.

I think responsibility for the decision would need to be counter signed by the 14 year old's guardian as well as the mother herself

no you aren't automatically an adult in the US atleast. Ultimately since she is under 18 (in most states) then her parents are responsible for both her and her child until age of consent.

well if the child-mother needs consent for surgery then if they cannot giva conesnt as they are still considered a child then it will be the closest relative of the child-mother which will be the grandmother of the child
